Happy World Oceans Day!

The oceans of the world are some of the most important parts of the global ecosystem. They provide billions of people with meals each day, help maintain global weather patterns, and act as carbon sinks, giving lots of carbon dioxide emissions a place to go when they are released into the air.

However, while these are all great traits, the world’s oceans have been struggling to maintain health and normalcy in recent years due to harmful human activity. Excessive greenhouse gas emissions and the abundance of single use plastics, among many other things, are negatively impacting our oceans.

This is why on June 8th, we celebrate World Ocean’s Day - to bring awareness to the many challenges faced by our oceans, and what individuals like you can do to help!

Seemingly small, personal choices such as riding a bike to work or investing in a reusable water bottle can make a huge difference over time in keeping the oceans clean, sustainable, and accessible to everyone who relies on them. For more information on what you can do help bring about change, you can visit World Ocean Day’s website.
