Are you about to graduate from college, or looking to pursue a new career? Tully Group is looking for Stormwater Inspectors. Typically, a successful candidate has their QSP or QSD certification (what is that? Click here). However, for those who are hardworking, dedicated applicants looking for a career, we are willing to hire and provide training.
So what do our Stormwater Inspectors do?
They go out to construction sites, and help the site adhere to water quality guidelines. It's very fulfilling work because you get to have an influence on reducing pollution in our waterways. We are very fortunate to have a lot of unique projects (see list below)
Wetland restoration (164 acres, check out our video here)
Truck climbing lane (Colfax Truck Climbing Lane)
Fish ladder installation (Mirabel Fish Ladder)
Sustainable Living Communities (Healthy Buildings Napa Creek Village)
And many more, we have over 200 clients and have worked hundreds of different projects
A typical day in the life of an Inspector looks like this-
Wake up around 5-6AM
Check the weather
Leave for work 6-7AM
Head out to jobsites for Inspection
Call Contractors to review Inspection notes
Converse with Regulatory Personnel
Put photos and test results into report
Clock out around 3-4PM
Upon arrival at the jobsite, an inspector will typically walk the entire site and take pictures along the way. They note potential sources of pollution, check for areas needing erosion control, and take samples of flowing stormwater. They will then run the water samples through a series of tests, such as Turbidity and pH testing. Before leaving it's important to maintain good communication with contractors and project managers. It's common for Inspectors to provide informal training on the job to explain the importance of proper stormwater management and erosion control.
Who's a good candidate for being a Stormwater Inspector?
Those with a QSD or QSP certification are highly sought after, however don't let that stop you from applying. Ideal candidates are hardworking, self-motivated, excellent communicators, morning people, and time efficient. Other ideal skills/qualities include: a good driving record, relatively tech savvy, comfortable with Microsoft Word and other Microsoft Office Software, and previous knowledge in the field of Stormwater.

If you want to shadow an inspector for a day please email email@example.com to schedule.
*Please note that at this time, most of our work is relating to Stormwater Management or the Environmental field.
Why are we looking for more Inspectors?
Long story short, work is good. We have a lot of routes. After the California Gas Tax was approved last year we saw our work load increase. Good for us! Good for you! Road work is getting done, and most construction sites needs a Stormwater Inspector.
How much do our Stormwater Inspectors make?
We pride ourselves with paying a fair wage to our employees and offering bountiful benefits (401K, Health, Dental and Vision insurance, profit sharing, employee appreciation events, etc.). With no experience, our Stormwater Inspectors start at $18 an hour. However, with added experience and education this amount will vary, and generous raises are given with time. We strive to treat our employees very well.
